More than a century ago, James Deering imagined Vizcaya—and it became an instrumental part of his life’s work and legacy. Vizcaya has endured as a public museum and garden, a vibrant and dynamic cultural center known for its remarkable collections, immersive programs, and the engaged community that supports it.
Barbara and Norman Tomlinson were integral members of that community. Their love of the gardens and fond memories of the museum were instrumental in their decision to include Vizcaya in their estate plan. Their desire to ensure that this Miami landmark endures for future generations led them to make one of the largest bequests in Vizcaya’s history this year.
“Vizcaya has long been a legacy institution, renowned for its uniqueness and recognized by donors’ commitment to its preservation as a community resource. Barbara and Norman Tomlinson were inspired by this enduring quality to make Vizcaya a special part of their philanthropy during their lifetime and an important part of their legacy thereafter. The Tomlinsons’ unwavering commitment, investment, and friendship will be remembered through their incredible generosity.“ —Stephanie A. Mayer, Chief Advancement Officer
